A busy week and weekend!

Wow, the last week was one of those ones where all you can think is, when will it end. Life in general is extremely busy, but last week my son became very sick with a virus that is going around. It was the sickest he has every been. He couldn't keep any food down and refused to drink any type of liquid, not what you want when your child has a 104° fever. We tried everything to get a little bit of liquid in him, but to no avail. By Friday night he had thrown up several more times and had not drank more then 2-3 ounces in 2 days. He was so weak he couldn't stand. It brought tears to my eyes as I saw him crying because he felt so terrible. We ended up taking him to the hospital Friday night (day 4 of being sick) because he had become too dehydrated. Thankfully they were able to rehydrate him with an IV and we were able to come back home around 3:30 in the morning. Turns out that some type of virus is going around and the hospital was seeing a lot of children with the same symptoms as our son. Yesterday (day 6 of being sick) was the first day we actually got him to eat some regular food. Only a couple tablespoons at a time, but it was better than nothing. He is still very weak and doesn't feel the best, but at least he is on the mend. I am so thankful that I having loving friends and family who kept our son in their prayers. The Lord our God is wonderful and through my prayers to Him, I was able to keep myself calm and not allow worry to overwhelm me.

To add to our load, we were also having a garage sale on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Normally I would have postponed it with our son being so sick, but we live in a town home association and they only allow garage sales one time a year. We had so many things we needed to try and sell that neither my husband or I wanted to wait a whole year before having another opportunity for a garage sale. We did sell some things, but all in all, we had better luck selling quite a few things on craigslist than at the garage sale (we listed some of our big garage sale items on craigslist). Of course the rain and rather yucky weather didn't help us on the garage sale front.

You add those two things to the list of 100 other things you must do during your week and throw in very little sleep and you've got the perfect recipe for exhaustion. Thankfully we got a respite yesterday. My husband and I actually had a whole 1 1/2 hours to ourselves (both kids were actually sleeping) to just sit outside and read. I don't think we've had that since our daughter was born. Now this morning I was able to get up and spend some time in prayer and read my Bible and even type this post while the kids both continue to sleep. I think this is a good start to my week. The birds are chirping, the sun is out and I'm ready to tackle the day.
